From Don(nobbyHall at 2007-08-21 21:26:13 : anyone about who was in the ship 1951 to 1953
From Martin Price at 2009-10-01 14:18:04 : I was sationed on HMS Rame Head as a young Cadet and I remember her lke it was yesterday. The Queens ship Britania was moored next to us and she was a beauty as was the Rame Head.
She looks pretty beat up in the picture but when I was on her she was in moth balls and ready to go back to duty at any moment, now though she looks like is is ready to be gutted and scrapped. While I was on her at whale Island I also had a chance to be on deck of the HMS Eagle and she was the sister ship to HMS ARK ROYAL. Again she was an amazing ship but was too old to re-fit and was there for salvage and scrap. Sad that these old wonders of the sea have to meet such an unfitting end.
My friends went on to serve fully in the Royal Navy and some made it to the HMS Sheffield whih of corse got a mid ships hit in the battle for the Falklands. My friends mad it off OK but I missed being in the battle and wil regret it forever. If anyone has more pictures of the Rame Head please let me know and I will post the ones I have of me when I stood on the deck with my shipmates looking at Britania.
From Mick at 2009-10-03 09:28:02 : Martin thanks for your comment, I'm sure we would all love to see your photo's, unfortunatley HMS Rame Head was towed out of Portsmouth Harbour about six months ago, her final trip to that great scrap yard in the sky, very sad...
